Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color in Pinkerbell Review
When MAC came up with the Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick, I was hankering to get a tube. Alas, it was sold out at every MAC counter and was only available online! I remember stopping by the SM Mall of Asia branch and not being able to swatch it because the tester had been used up to the very bottom! I don’t mind dupes, so I’m really happy that I found one in the Wet n Wild Pinkerbell Mega Last Lip Color! I bought mine online last year but I had to wait for more than a month because it was a pre-order.
Product description from the brand’s website:
Lips take center stage! This 4-hour, longwearing lip color leaves a semi-matte, crème finish in one stroke. Glides on easily with rich, velvety color that doesn’t cake, feather, or bleed. Made with hydrating skin-care ingredients: Hyaluronic Microspheres provide extraordinary adhesion to lips, an exclusive polymer complex offers cushion-like feel and texture, and natural marine plant extracts Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamins A & E help smooth lips.
The packaging of Wet n Wild’s Mega Last Lip Color isn’t very appealing. Plus I am annoyed that the product sticks out of the tube, making it prone to nicks whenever I put the cap back on. I try to be extra careful when I’m done applying and have to put it back in my bag. Well given its affordable price, I guess it’s something I can live with. There is a label underneath that shows the name of the shade unlike the older shades that have only codes of numbers and a letter.
The lipstick is very pigmented and has great staying power. One swipe of it provides you with an opaque coverage. Because of the matte finish, it is best to ensure that your lips are well-moisturized and not flaky because this lipstick would accentuate your lips’ flaws. It also has a bit of a drag when you apply it, but I don’t mind. It has no discernible scent or taste to it.
Pinkerbell is one of Wet n Wild’s newer shades from the Mega Last Lip Color line. I’m not sure but I think this came out after the promotion of MAC Viva Glam Nicki. It’s part of the Spring 2012 release. The shade is a bright yellow-toned pink, and could be called a medium salmon pink. If you like peachy pink lip colors but would want to own one with more spunk, then I think Pinkerbell would not disappoint. It’s a great lip color for summer! I think one of the more obvious differences it has with Viva Glam Nicki is the finish. Viva Glam Nicki has a satin finish while Pinkerbell has a matte finish. Of course, Wet n Wild wins in terms of price tag. I do wish I had a tube of Viva Glam Nicki to compare the shades in person.
What I like about Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color in Pinkerbell:
• I like the happy salmon pink shade
• Very pigmented
• Has good staying power
• Can pass for a MAC Viva Glam Nicki dupe
• No discernible taste or scent
• Available at leading department stores
What I don’t like about Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color in Pinkerbell:
• A little drying so lip balm is a must
• Drags a bit when being applied
• The packaging and the protruding product
Will I repurchase?
Maybe. It’s a nice color so I might pick up a tube after I finish mine.
If you’re a MAC fanatic and you either missed out on Viva Glam Nicki or weren’t able to get backups, then I would suggest that you check out Wet n Wild Pinkerbell.
