I’ve adopted the habit of applying sunscreen on my face nearly daily, but I realized that I’d neglected putting SPF on my body. I guess a lot of people only think to slather on sunscreen or sunblock on their body when they’re at the beach, like I have in the past, but our skin also gets exposed to the sun even when we’re just in the city, especially in an incredibly sunny one like Manila. I wanted a lotion with SPF that’s affordable because it’s something that I’ll be using everyday and would probably finish quickly. So I looked at the choices available at the drugstore and got the Vaseline Total Aloe Moisture Fresh Lotion.
What the company says about the product:
Vaseline® Total Moisture® Aloe Fresh lotion leaves your skin feeling light and fresh. Our light feel formula combines pure aloe and Stratys-3TM multi-layer moisture absorbing quickly, infusing moisture at the top, core and deep down layers, leaving skin hydrated.
This smells alright. A little more scented than I’d prefer, but it doesn’t smell bad. It doesn’t smell like aloe, more like slightly perfumey cucumber, which fades after about five minutes of applying the lotion.
The Vaseline Aloe Fresh Lotion has SPF 24, the main reason I bought it. I think that’s a good enough SPF level for me. I apply it ever morning, even if I’ll just be staying indoors the whole day, because I often work by a window where the sunlight reaches my skin.
The consistency of this lotion isn’t runny, but more on the creamy side. It’s not sticky, heavy, or greasy though, and I find it to be a light lotion. It gets absorbed by the skin pretty quickly too. After only around 3 minutes of slathering it on my arms and legs, I no longer detect any residue or dampness from the lotion. I think this is a good choice for a body lotion for summers or when it’s exceptionally hot, because it feels light and non-sticky on the skin, and there’s the SPF too of course.
I was delighted to find that the Total Moisture Aloe Fresh Lotion actually is moisturizing. My skin is very dry, and a lot of lotions available at the supermarket or drugstore do nothing in terms of moisturization, but this is decent. It makes my skin feel supple and moisturized for 4-5 hours, after which I have to reapply to re-hydrate my skin.
Vaseline Total Moisture Aloe Fresh Body Lotion – What I Like:
- Has a tolerable scent which fades quickly.
- It doesn’t leave an obvious white cast on my arms and legs.
- It doesn’t irritate my skin.
- The texture is creamy, but it’s lightweight and non-sticky on the skin.
- It’s moderately moisturizing.
- It has SPF 24.
- Available in small sizes like this one (100 ml); convenient for travel or testing.
- It’s not expensive. Cost PhP 114.75 at a department store.
- Easy to find.
Vaseline Total Moisture Aloe Fresh Body Lotion – What I don’t Like:
- Could be more moisturizing.
Not bad! Try it if you want an affordable, non-sticky, decently moisturizing body lotion with SPF. I believe Vaseline has another body lotion with SPF, it’s from their regular line and it’s called Healthy White SPF 24, which Gessyl reviewed here. I’m liking these new Vaseline lotions though. If you like chocolate scents, check out the Cocoa variant, also from the Total Moisture Line.
