I never spent much on cotton rounds or cotton balls, but after reading Rati‘s post on The Body Shop’s Organic Cotton Rounds, I realized that, like skin care products, I use cotton rounds on my face pretty much everyday, so it wouldn’t be impractical to shell out a little extra for quality ones! When I passed by The Body Shop and saw that these were one sale, I didn’t hesitate to buy them.
Printed on the packaging:
Double sided, textured and twice as nice. With a textured surface to effectively remove makeup or nail polish and a smooth side ideal for gentle cleansing.
Cotton is one of the planet’s most chemical-intensive crops, releasing 16% of the world’s insecticides, more than any other crop! Organic cotton farming uses more natural, traditional methods, so it’s better for communities and the soil.
I purchased two for P250, that was the promo price at the time. I believe they were on something like 30% discount. Each pack contains 100 pads, and since I have two packs and I usually use toner just once a day (I use a rinse-off cleanser for removing makeup), these should last me for about half a year. Not bad, no?
I use these Organic Cotton Rounds for applying toner on my face, and I must say they are really sturdy. They are far from flimsy or thin, they do not rip. Yet they feel gentle on my sensitive skin. There are no rough or abrasive spots on it. Plus it doesn’t absorb too much of the product that I put on it so a few splashes from the bottle are already enough for my entire face.
They can also be kept in the plastic covering they originally come in because these have a drawstring closure that can keep dust out. I find that convenient.
I don’t really use these for removing nail polish because I tend to use a lot of cotton pads for that. Instead I use my two-packs-for PhP 99 from Watsons which compared to The Body Shop’s are total crap.
The Body Shop Organic Cotton Rounds – What I like about it:
- These don’t rip easily at all.
- The shape is wide and big enough to be used both on the face and for nail polish removal.
- The edges aren’t hard or sharp and I don’t feel them jutting into my skin.
- The rounds have a firm but soft texture which feel gentle on my skin.
- I like that the production process of it is environment-friendly.
- The packaging has a drawstring closure.
- It’s available locally.
The Body Shop Organic Cotton Rounds – What I don’t like about it:
Switch to these if you use cotton pads daily and the ones you’re currently using have a rough texture or are flimsy or thin. While it costs more than cotton rounds found at the drugstore, these are well worth the price. Look for them during a The Body Shop sale to save a bit of money.
