Stila In The Light Eyeshadow Palette Review

Stila In The Light Eyeshadow Palette Review

Don’t you like it when you have cousins who are loving that they are willing to lend you their personal stuff just to help you with what you do? This review was created because my cousin learned that I am contributing articles to FMBB. Isn’t sweet?

Stila In The Light Eyeshadow Palette ReviewProduct information (from the Stila website):

The new In The Light Palette is a beautiful collection of Stila’s award-winning Eye Shadows in wearable, neutral shades for every skintone that can be worn wet or dry. The palette also includes an exclusive Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Damsel, a matte chocolate brown, and an eight-page lookbook with detailed how-to tips and tricks.

I was drooling (figuratively) when my cousin handed me this palette. Being a lover of neutrals, I quickly opened it and gazed at each of the colors, swatched it and tried it for she offered to leave the palette for a week. I know it is not enough time but I will try my best to make it fair and square.

Packaging is a light brown carton that has stars on it which I find really cute and eco-friendly. The box will not open by accident for it has a magnetic snap that holds the palette together. It is approximately 6 and half inches long and less than an inch thick which makes it really great for travelling. Upon opening, a mirror is opposite the shadows with a quote by Sarah Lucero which says “believe in the beauty of the future”.

Checking the price on Sephora, it has a good price of $26 (approx Php 1057). I know it can be expensive for some but I assure you that it is a good deal because the smudge stick alone is worth $20. And the eyeshadow alone is worth 18 USD for a .09 oz pan.

The palette contains ten adorable neutral shades and a brown smudgestick. It also comes with a small booklet with 6 different looks that you can use as guide if you are a beginner.

All of the eyeshadows have glitter or shimmer to it. There are 4 mattes with glitters and the other 6 are a combination of shimmers and frosts. I couldn’t get enough of them because they are so pretty and it matches my warm skin tone. Aside from that, the colors are day time to night time friendly. What else can you ask for?

Here are the colors: (color information from stila website)

Stila In The Light Eyeshadow Palette Review

Bare (matte ivory), Kitten (shimmering nude pink), Bliss (matte nude), Sunset (copper shimmer), Sandstone (matte neutral brown), Champagne (pale gold shimmer), Gilded Gold (bronze with gold shimmer), Luster (deep gray with gold shimmer), Night Sky (slate blue with silver shimmer), Ebony (matte black)

For me, I find the mattes a little powdery especially Bare. As for the shimmers, I find Kitten a little chalky and a little messy to use.

The staying power is good with a primer. It lasted 8 hours without budging. I also tried using it without a primer and I was pretty impressed because it stayed on my oily lids for a good 4 hours.

Stila In The Light Eyeshadow Palette ReviewAs for the smudgestick, it is a retractable liner that is dual purpose. You can use it as a brow or eye liner. Road testing it, I was pretty astonished because it is waterproof and smudge proof! The texture is to die for because it is really creamy and so easy to work with. I also did try the rub test and water test. It didn’t move at all! Pretty amazing smudgestick! And the best part, it is sharpen-free because it is retractable.

STILA IN THE LIGHT EYESHADOW PALETTE PROS:

  • The palette is travel-friendly.
  • Comes with a liner in dark brown and it is smudge-proof!
  • The colors suits every skin tone
  • Fairly priced
  • Colors are pigmented
  • Consistency in general is great.
  • Lover of neutrals will really love the palette
  • Great for day time to nigh time looks

STILA IN THE LIGHT EYESHADOW PALETTE CONS:

  • Not available locally
  • The mattes are a little chalky for my taste

Overall:

This palette is to die for! I love that it is not all mattes or shimmers but a combination of both. The performance is totally awesome and this one palette will suit every girl of every age and ethnicity.
