Skin Food Gold Caviar Serum Review

Skin Food Gold Caviar Serum Review

I received a small sample of the Skin Food Gold Caviar Serum with one of my online orders, and I was able to use that sachet every night for up to 5 days. My skin is pretty dry and this serum made it feel much softer—it was a relief to my skin. However, it also happened to be my time of the month while I used this, and a few pimples developed on my face. I wasn’t sure if it was due to this product or my period. So, being the cheapskate, segurista that I am, I ordered a pack of 10 more sample sachets of this serum, to test if I’d get any more pimples with longer use.

Skin Food Gold Caviar Serum ReviewWhat the company says about the product:

A total care serum that takes care of the wrinkles, nutrients, resilience and moisture at the same time with the Russian caviar extracts and gold ingredients.

Instructions:

Take an appropriate amount and spread into the palm of your hands after the application of toner to apply in the direction of the skin’s texture. Press slowly for absorption.

Skin Food Gold Caviar Serum ReviewSkin Food Gold Caviar Serum ReviewI was afraid this would smell..I dunno, like fish, or whatever caviar smells like, but it just smells mildly perfumey. Floral. I don’t love the scent but it’s not terrible either, and I don’t find it overwhelming. The scent fades in about 5 minutes.  The serum feels very smooth, and kind of dry, very much like a product with dimethicone, which I found out it contains 7.8% of. So if you’re allergic to ‘cones, or they cause you breakouts, you should probably not use this serum at all. Full ingredients list available on DailyMed.

My skin, however, really seems to like it. It feels like it quenches my dry skin’s thirst. It feels a lot more plump and soft after continued use. It’s pretty heavy for the hot, humid weather in Manila, so I only use this at night. I apply if after toner, and before moisturizer. A small amount goes a long way—a smaller than pea-size amount is already enough. If I apply more, my face tends to feel a bit greasy.

I continued to use it after my period finished, and I didn’t get any new pimples, although just to be sure, I’ve decided to use it just every other night instead of daily. I really like how it makes my dry skin less flaky and more moisturized. I think it’d be too heavy to use in the summer though.

Skin Food Gold Caviar Serum ReviewHere’s what I like about the Skin Food Gold Caviar Serum:

  • It makes my face feel noticeably softer and more moisturized.
  • It doesn’t cause any irritations or bad breakouts.
  • No increase in blackheads experienced with this.
  • Its scent isn’t overwhelming.
  • A small amount of it is enough for the whole face.
  • Cheap samples of it can be purchased online. I ordered a pack of 10 samples for PhP 150.

And what I don’t like about the Skin Food Gold Caviar Serum:

  • It can make my skin feel a little greasy in hot weather, and when I use too much of it.
  • A full bottle (50 ml) is a bit expensive at around PhP 1,300 on Ebay.

Overall:

I’ll purchase the full bottle once I finish all the samples that I have. Even though it’s not exactly cheap, it works for me and a 50 ml bottle should last me a long time. The bottle looks lovely too in photos I’ve seen of it online. I’m not sure if this is available at Skin Food branches because I don’t really visit their stores, since it’s much cheaper to buy Skin Food items online. I recommend this product to those who have persistently dry skin and don’t break out from dimethicone.

I came across this review only today, Ida :))
I totally love the look of this serum, and this looks like a perfect thing for mature skin (like my mom’s). However, the usual obstacle – availability – is always present

Whoops… sorry about that top comment’s ending. I switched tabs and started typing something else, and only when I hit enter did I realize I’d not actually switched tabs. :-D
And one more thing – caviar smells like the beach, and not like fish. :yessir: Although some beaches do smell of fish :tooing:

Samantha, I’d totally suggest this for mature skin, or very dry skin, for that matter, to be layered with moisturizer. :yessir: That happens to me too with the tabs. :-)

I’ve never eaten caviar. It’s nice to know they smell like the beach and not fishy. :-D This serum though just smells perfumey to me.
