I believe the first thing we should learn in when doing makeup is choosing the right shade of foundation. Whether it is liquid, powder or cream, we should really be accurate. Finding the right shade with local makeup can be hard because of the limited shades. Good thing, our ever reliable drugstore makeup Revlon has a wide variety of shades. Revlon PhotoReady Compact Makeup comes in 8 shades. But I think here in Philippines only 6 shades are available and this includes: Vanilla, Shell, Natural Beige, Medium Beige, Cool Beige, Rich Ginger. This is one of the PhotoReady family that uses photochromatic pigments to bend, reflect and diffuse light. That’s why in pictures it comes off very nice and natural.
One tip in choosing your shade is to test it on your jawline or better yet, all over your face. Just make sure to bring your own sponge (for hygienic purposes). Then walk around the mall, let it set in and check it under sunlight outside. Better yet bring someone and ask them to check if it isn’t too light or too dark for you. I rarely rely on SA’s recommendation on shade selection because I experienced once that two branches gave me different answers. And boy, I was confused! So, I really had to test it.
This compact makeup uses photochromatic pigments to bend, reflect and diffuse light. Same with the Liquid Foundation, Powder and Translucent powder that in the PhotoReady line.
Packaging
Very sleek, sturdy and I love the way it creates a clicking sound when you close it. It has a tiny mirror that you could use when retouching. It has a unique fishnet-like covering that turns the cream foundation into liquid-y consistency once the sponge is applied and sets in to powder silky finish.
The Screen
Scent
Fragrance Free – but can still smell like makeup for me
Performance
This is my first and only cream based foundation. I like that my skin looked dewy after applying it. I like that looks so natural, almost like an airbrush finish. I used it during our Creative Shots activity in school and all my photos were really nice, not to mention pictures from my handy Nikon CoolPix were pretty awesome, considering it is a point and shoot camera. Indeed photoready! Definitely this foundation is great for for harsh flash/ lighting. Knowing that this has SPF it didn’t leave any white cast in any of my pictures. Usually foundation that has SPF leaves an awful white cast in pictures.
In natural light, I didn’t look very made up. My pores weren’t visible and it also reduced the redness of my blemishes. Too bad it didn’t do anything for my nasty childhood scar.

As of now, I haven’t used it again. I rarely use foundation, I’m a loose powder girl.

Cecile, this sounds good…nakakaenganyo yung review mo.
I’ve never tried anything from the Photoready line, I’m thinking of starting with this or the concealer.
Hey! Nice review! I just got this product and I tried taking a picture with the flash on, but it turned disastrous as the picture still showed the *white* on my face..it looked like I had applied something on my face! It didn’t seem photoready as it claims! Can you tell me what actually has gone wrong? I really don’t understand! Please?
Maybe you didn’t blend it well or the shade isn’t a match? :)
