Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Foundation Review

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Foundation Review

I’d had my eye set on this foundation ever since I read about how it’s ideal for dry skin. My dry, dull skin loves moisturizing foundations with dewy finishes. My skin type has always been dry, but every summer, it gets a little oily and turns into combination. I’ve been using the Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Foundation to see if it’s indeed suitable for dry skin and how it holds up against a bit of oil and our tropical climate.

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Foundation ReviewProduct claim:

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Cream Makeup combines makeup + powerful anti-aging skincare to help protect skin’s DNA to fight the signs of aging. 96% of women saw flawless, younger-looking skin in two weeks. Lines and wrinkles are visibly diminished while skin is refreshed, hydrated, revitalized. SPF 20.

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Foundation ReviewRevlon calls this ‘cream makeup’, and it does have a creamy texture, but in general it’s still a liquid foundation. It’s packaged in a glass bottle with a cool design that mimics the models we often see of DNA structure. It has a pump dispenser which I don’t particularly like because a normal, soft press on it gives me too much product.

It has a creamy, but not too thick texture that I find spreads and blends very easily onto my whole face. This does not emphasize any flaky, dry areas which has been my issue with other liquid foundations and even some BB creams. It also doesn’t settle on fine lines, enlarged pores, or blemishes. It feels moisturizing and a bit rich.

It has a small amount of fine shimmer which isn’t obvious after applying the foundation, but which I noticed when I swatched it on my hand and looked at it in direct sunlight. I find the shimmers overall to be barely noticeable and sparse. The finish of it is slightly dewy.

The coverage it provides is light to medium. This will not cover pimples or redness entirely, but it does even out my skintone nicely and makes it look more fresh. It looks very natural and not at all mask-like. The shade I use is Medium Beige and it has just enough yellow tones to match my skin tone closely.

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Foundation ReviewI think my skin would definitely love the Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage foundie during cooler months, but right now, with the scorching heat and high humidity we’ve been experiencing, the formula of it is simply too heavy. It makes me more oily. Walking outside for some minutes with this on resulted to a shiny mess of a face, and my skin is on the dry side at that. I wouldn’t recommend this at all to those with oily skin. It doesn’t melt off or look uneven afterwards though, it’s just the feel and finish of it that’s too much for our current weather.

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Foundation – Pros:

  • It’s moisturizing.
  • Doesn’t emphasize flakes, fine lines, pores or blemishes.
  • Doesn’t break me out or cause irritation.
  • It’s not too shimmery.
  • The texture is smooth, easy to apply and blend.
  • Packaging looks nice.
  • It’s locally available.

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Foundation – Cons:

  • Made my skin more oily and shiny.
  • Too heavy for our hot, humid weather.
  • I find the price of it at local counters to be expensive at PhP 900+, that’s why I got it on Ebay, sealed and new, for nearly half that price.

Overall:

I’m keeping this for when the weather turns more bearable and not as hot or sticky. My skin tends to look for moisture in foundations majority of the year, but right now, I’m sticking to base makeup with lighter formulas that are more comfortable to wear in this heat.
