Palladio Herbal Lip Slix in Vixen Review

If you’ll asked me what my favorite makeup product is, I’ll say lip products. Why? Because it is very easy to change your look with a lipstick. You don’t need to be an expert or even study how to apply it. You just have to swipe it on and voila, a new look! I always prefer pink shades since they are appropriate for my age but lately I’ve been drawn to dark, vampy and sultry colors like MAC Rebel. I was really happy when I got this freebie with my recent purchase! :D From the tube it really looks so sexy and foxy!

From Palladio’s Website:

A long-wear gloss in the form of a thick crayon, these nifty vitamin-enriched treats are handy and super affordable when compared to department store rivals.

12 beautiful shades glide on with ease and creamy, pigmented sticks combine palm-sized convenience with an emollient-filled formula that won’t dry out the lips.

Lip Slix is a chubby pencil similar to NARS Lip Pencils. It is a shining shimmering lip gloss crayon that is more of a lipstick than a gloss. I love that is chubby so it is easier and a lot less time-consuming to apply compared to lip pencils that are thin. A minor concern I do have is it needs to be sharpened. I need a jumbo sharpener for this. So, I haven’t sharpened this one ever since I got it.

This color – Vixen is a dark raspberry color perfect for nights out. The tube itself would give you an idea of what the color is. It is actually pretty accurate. It is shiny with lots of shimmer. This color is semi-sheer yet very buildable. One swipe gives a fairly decent amount of color but you can layer it for more intense color. It is opaque and pigmentation is awesome. The crayon gives the pigmentation of a lipstick and the shine of a gloss minus the sticky feel of gloss. This color doesn’t look really nice on me during the day since it makes me look old.

I love that the formula is very creamy and it glides well on my lips. I love that is feels very smooth and that application is no problem at all. Unlike other lip pencils that would drag your lips when applying. I actually don’t really need to use lip balm underneath since it doesn’t tug on my lips in any way though I would still apply lip balm for a more moisturizing feeling. This doesn’t dry out my lips nor moisturize it. So lip balm is still a must if you have dry lips like me.

The staying power is excellent too. It would stay for about 4 hours on me. It would only disappear after eating or drinking but but there would be a bit of stain left. When it eventually fades, it does so evenly plus the stain left. I just hate that some shimmer would still be on my lips so I make sure to remove everything once it has already faded. There is no strange scent or taste to it that I noticed. It also has 12 months of use before it would eventually spoil.

What I Like About It

  • Easy application
  • Good staying power
  • Great texture and formula
  • Big enough or chubby enough to apply in a less time consuming manner

What I Don’t Like About It

  • The color is not exactly for me
  • Leaves a stain but shimmer is left behind too
  • Needs a jumbo sharpener

Final Thoughts

I’m so pleased that I gave this pencil a try. It’s a wonderful lip color with a great texture and feel of it on my lips, the ease of application, and the staying power. I don’t know if this product is available locally but I noticed Palladio is available in Beauty Bar. I’ll check it today!

Yet another Clinique Chubby Stick type of product- parang usong uso ngayon. :) I did see Palladio at Beauty Bar, though can’t remember if this particular product was there.
