Organix Vanilla Silk – Silk Serum Review
I believe I’ve said it a number of times on the blog already—I love the scent of vanilla. So naturally, I’d like my tresses to smell of vanilla too. That’s what prompted me to buy the Organix Vanilla Silk – Silk Serum. I’d been hearing a lot lately about Organix, a brand of hair and skin care products that uses natural ingredients. They have wide selection of hair stuff and I was a bit overwhelmed by the choices, so I decided to start with my fave scent, figuring the hair serum would provide the longest-lasting fragrance.
Product claim:
This Silk Serum is a totally indulgent blend of Tahitian vanilla bean oils to instantly protect your hair with our unique nutrient infusion and hydrolyzed silk proteins. Protects, smoothes, conditions and shines your hair. Vanilla silk proteins, shea butter, and vitamins smooth, seal, and shine, conditions, and detangles dry, damaged hair, while preventing frizz and helping to prevent damage.
Apply a small amount of Organix Vanilla Silk – Silk Serum to palm, rub hands together, then apply evenly to surface of damp, (towel dried) hair working through ends. For best results use with other Organix Vanilla Silk products.
I always apply a leave-on conditioner and this Organix serum now when I know I’ll be in air-conditioning most of the day. Aircon in the car and pretty much anywhere else makes my dry tresses even drier. The conditioner and serum I put on to counteract the dryness. However I must note that I avoid using them when I’m going to be commuting—they’ll probably only make my hair feel heavy and clumpy.
The Organix Vanilla Silk – Silk Serum has been my go-to serum now for when I’ll be going out and want a boost of moisture or softness. My routine is usually shampoo on the scalp/top of hair, conditioner, then once my tresses are dry, the Silk Serum. I find that it makes my tresses feel softer. Like, touchably soft. It’s not a product to rely on if you want intense moisturization or treatment, because it provides a touch of softness and not a hot oil level type of moisture. It’s more like a nice finishing touch if your tresses are dry and could use more softness.
The effect isn’t very long-lasting, just around 3 hours, but what I like about the Organix Silk Serum, aside from the softness it gives, is that it doesn’t make my tresses feel heavy or oily at all. The Vitress Hair Cuticle Coat, the only other hair serum I’ve tried, gave me greasy tresses no matter how little of it I used. But then the price of that is a lot more affordable to this one’s, which is PhP 399 at department stores.
Of course the vanilla scent is a huge bonus for me. As I said, it doesn’t last long on the tresses, but I enjoy it while it’s there. This is a gentle vanilla that isn’t too sweet. It doesn’t burn the nose with sugary sweetness. It’s a mild, pleasant vanilla that I don’t think would be cloying even in hotter weather.

Organix Vanilla Silk – Silk Serum – Likes:
- Adds softness and smoothness to my dry tresses.
- Love the scent. It’s not overpowering or too sweet.
- It doesn’t make my hair feel greasy or look clumpy, even later in the day.
- The pump doesn’t dispense too much product and if I turn it to a certain direction, the pump locks, so I can put it in my bag without worrying about spillage.
- I only have to use a small amount (slightly less than pea-size) with each application so the bottle should last a long time.
- Organix products are available at local department stores.
Organix Vanilla Silk – Silk Serum – Dislikes:
- The fragrance and effect aren’t long-lasting.
Overall:
I’ve really come to like this Organix product and rarely skip applying it whenever I go out. Sometimes when I’m just staying home and my tresses feel particularly rough and dry or I just want it to smell like vanilla, I pat some of this on too. Worth the price for me.
