OPI The Amazing Spiderman - Just Spotted the Lizard Nail Polish Review
I ignored this nail polish when it became available at one of my favorite local online shops, and then I kept on seeing photos of it online and came to regret not getting it because I came to appreciate the color and it sold out pretty fast. Luckily, it was restocked again last week and I ordered it immediately.
OPI describes this shade from The Amazing Spiderman Collection as:
a metallic, golden green
OPI Just Spotted the Lizard has been touted many times as a Chanel Peridot nail polish dupe, and incidentally, the other polish I got from this collection, Number One Nemesis, seems to be a dupe of yet another Chanel polish, called Graphite. I don’t have Peridot, so I don’t mind. but if you already have that one you might want to consider skipping this because while they’re not exactly the same, they do seem quite similar.
Shot outdoors with no flash on a cloudy day
Oh my gosh, looking at it in the bottle, when I first got it, I was pretty impressed. It’s quite striking, and the duochrome effect is already evident. To my eyes, in the bottle, Just Spotted the Lizard looks like a golden green that flashes a deeper green in some areas and a more golden yellow in some others. It seems to be composed of the teeniest metallic shimmer that give it a metallic finish.
I find the formula to be smooth as butter. This applies very smoothly onto my nails. It’s not thick, it’s not thin or runny, it’s got a great formula. Easy to apply evenly. This does tend to show brush strokes, but nothing major or as obvious as compared to frosty nail polishes. Not a big issue for me and though it may look kinda brush stroke-y in macro, zoomed-in photos of it worn on nails, in actual, what I think most people will really notice is the beautiful color and the reflective finish of Just Spotted the Lizard. The brush strokes are not that obvious.
I love how this looks on my skin tone. My warm, yellow-undertoned skin seems to bring out more of the golden, yellowy tones in this polish and the color looks beautiful. I love it! I recently got some thin gold bangles and this complements those bangles so nicely.
Here I tilted my nails upwards towards the natural light available…
…and here I tilted my nails downwards, so it was photographed in low light because it didn’t catch much of the light available on that cloudy day. Green to gold!
OPI The Amazing Spiderman - Just Spotted the Lizard Nail Polish – What I like about it:
- The beautiful color.
- The striking, metallic, reflective finish.
- The duochrome effect. I really like the shades it shifts to, too.
- The smooth, so easy to apply formula.
- Its relatively quick drying time.
- Its being big 3-free.
OPI The Amazing Spiderman - Just Spotted the Lizard Nail Polish – What I don’t like about it:
- The brush strokes can look kinda obvious…if you look at it very closely.
- It has to be ordered online and stocks seem scarce. I got it from Digital Traincase for PhP 420, where it’s currently already out of stock again.
I love this metallic, duochrome gold-green-yellow nail polish. So glad I got it and if you have access to it, don’t let it pass you by!
