Ombre Lips – Would You Try this Trend?
I started seeing ombre lips at the beginning of this year, then it seemed to become more of a trend later on, right around the time The Hunger Games was showing in cinemas, when a number of bloggers and makeup aficionados made their own interpretations of the futuristic, post-apocalyptic makeup used in the film.
I’ve seen this trend in magazine editorials as well, such as the one below which appeared in Nylon magazine, with the color gradient being more intense in the inner part of the lips then becoming more pale towards the outer part, or towards the sides; a dark shade on the upper lip to a lighter version on the lower one; or lip liner-like, being darker on the outer lines of the lips and slightly lighter on the inside, but more blended and somewhat dimensional.

Ombre lips definitely seems like they’d take longer to achieve and finish, so it obviously isn’t an everyday sort of thing, but I’d love to try it on special occasions and when I’m in the mood to experiment with my makeup—it looks like a fun way to play with color.
How ’bout you, would you try this makeup trend?

These look beautiful!!! I would do it though, on myself, for the plain reason that I probably will look like I have horizontally striped lips :D I like the piccies you’ve put together, Ida! :)
Thank you, Samantha. :) Hey, maybe it won’t look like stripes if you just do the middle, like the girl on the 4th photo- my fave pic in this set. :)
