Nichido Juicy Lips Lipsticks in Apple Cider and Pink Champagne

I’m not a brand snob, and I am a fan of drugstore brands. I’ve been wearing face powders and lipglosses from local drugstore labels and friendly neighborhood direct sellers since high school. My favorite blush is from a popular drugstore brand. But for some reason, I haven’t tried Nichido products before. I was searching for good lip colors and I’ve read from a forum that the Nichido Juicy Lips Lipstick in Apple Cider is a much-raved about lippie. That sparked my interest in Nichido and influenced me to buy this shade.

At first I was skeptical that this lipstick would work well but my doubts flew out the window the moment I swiped it on. It looks good on me and it glides on really well. Then came a time that I wanted bright lipsticks, and I bought Pink Champagne.

I love that these lipsticks have a soft shimmer that doesn’t go overboard. It’s just enough to make your lips look pretty, shiny and kissable. True to its name, your lips will look juicy and luscious. You can skip putting on lipgloss, but do not skip lip balm prior to lipstick application.

Apple Cider is a pinkish brown lipstick that is good for everyday use. It looks good on my fair skin, but I think this would also suit morenas and would be a “my lips but better shade” for them. I really like how it’s fit for school, for running errands, for shopping and just about any casual daily activity. Your lips will never look “overdressed” with this shade.
                                                                                                     Nichido Pink Champagne Lipstick

Pink Champagne is a pink red with a hint of coral. It has the right amount of brightness that doesn’t look over the top for daywear. This is perfect for those who would like to try a bold color but do not want to sport Barbie pink or red. If you’re still worried that it’s too bright, you can opt to apply it as light as you want so that it would look like a nice stain. The color pay-off is quite good, so a little goes a long way.

The shades may not look the same on people with different skin tone and lip pigmentation. I wasn’t able to take a photo but mixing these lipsticks together creates a gorgeous shade, which is a pinkish coral with hints of brown on me.

What I Like About Nichido Juicy Lips Lipsticks in Apple Cider and Pink Champagne:

• Applies smoothly
• Good pigmentation
• Not drying
• It doesn’t feel heavy on the lips.
• Stays on for about 4 hours. Retouching is minimized to at least thrice throughout the day.
• It has a sweet scent that I’m not bothered about.
• Packaging is a cute peachy pink plastic tube.
• Very affordable!
• Availability. It can be found at the Nichido counters of SM Department Store and Watsons outlets.

What I Don’t Like About Nichido Juicy Lips Lipsticks in Apple Cider and Pink Champagne:

• This lipstick can accentuate dryness, so make exfoliation and lip balm your good friends.
• No information on the ingredients.
• Some of the Nichido lipsticks are said to darken lips in the long run, so lip balm or primer is a must before application. I’m not using this as much as I want to because of this.

Would I buy this again?

Probably not. I’m already happy that I got to experience using these lipsticks. I’m a little bothered about what I’ve read that it causes lips to darken. For its price and quality, I would suggest that anyone try this at least once though, just be sure to take the necessary precautionary measures. It is still a good addition to your kikay kit.
