Nature Republic Age Slick Collagen BB Cream Review

Nature Republic Age Slick Collagen BB Cream Review

I was delighted that the gift with purchase Nature Republic gave me a few weeks ago was a sample tube of the Age Slick Collagen BB Cream, because I’m always willing to try out new BB creams—I’ve really taken a liking to them—and it was a good opportunity to try out what this newly-launched brand (in the Philippines) has to offer, in comparison with other BB creams.

The sample tube contains 10 ml of product, good enough for a number of applications. I’ve used it 5 days straight and there’s still a small amount left. As with most BB creams, the Age Slick Collagen BB Cream only requires a small amount to cover the entire face.

Nature+Republic+Age+Slick+Collagen+BB+Cream+Review2 Nature Republic Age Slick Collagen BB Cream ReviewOne of the things I like about this product is that it doesn’t have a very thick consistency, making it easier to blend than most other Korean BB creams. It’s not likely to leave streaks on your face if you don’t take enough time to blend it in. My skin is on the dry side so I prefer to use moisturizer before applying this. Right afterward, I apply small dots of this on each cheek, my forehead, nose, and chin, and blend with my fingers, which I find to be the best way to apply blemish balms. This has a mild floral scent which fades quickly.

It has SPF 25, so I don’t apply sunscreen anymore when I use this. It feels pretty lightweight, even on hot days, and it’s got great lasting power—it lasts pretty much the entire day on my face. As for coverage, the Age Slick Collagen BB Cream offers light to medium coverage. It’s not enough to totally cover up my sun spots or the redness around my nose, but it does improve the overall appearance of my skin, making it look more even that it really is, and giving it a fresher look. It has a matte finish that’s a bit too dry for my skin, but it doesn’t cause my face to oil up later in the day and gives a decent color match to my face.

However, and yeah, there is a however, I’ve gotten bumps on my cheeks and forehead after using this…I think this is the cause because I haven’t used any new skincare products, and I rarely get bumps like these now. They don’t look like pimples, but are tiny white bumps, which I think is a sign of my pores getting clogged. There’s not a whole lot of them, but definitely enough for me to notice and make the texture of my cheeks feel uneven. Of course, each person’s skin reacts differently, so don’t write off this product just yet. It’s got a number of good points, so if you do try it, try to get a sample as well and observe how your skin behaves.

  • Has a lightweight feel, even in our tropical climate. Doesn’t make me feel itchy either.
  • Consistency isn’t overly thick, making it easier to blend and avoid caking.
  • Very long-wearing. Thumbs up on this.
  • Has SPF 25.
  • Has a mild scent.
  • I find the light to medium coverage good enough for daily wear.
  • Doesn’t make my face oil up towards the end of the day.
  • Decent color match—looks a bit light upon initial application, but after 2-3 minutes blends pretty well into my skin tone. I don’t see much of a gray cast to it and it’s not too light, but I could use more yellow tones from it to get a better match.
  • Easily accessible at Nature Republic stores.

Nature Republic Age Slick Collagen BB Cream – Dislikes:

  • I believe this caused bumps to appear on my skin.
  • The matte finish tends to emphasize any dry spots on my face.

Overall:

Ahh, too bad it just doesn’t work with my skin, because there are many things that I like about it. The finish is even alright with me, because at the height of summer my face tends to go a bit oily, and that’s when I reach for matte finishes. The actual product is 45 g in size and costs PhP 1065 at Nature Republic branches. I don’t know which one of the many ingredients in it is causing my skin to react, but I won’t be purchasing a full-size of this.
