Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Barcelona Swatch and Review
Sheer glow—sounds good, right? Who wouldn’t want a foundation that’s sheered out to look like skin and gives your face a natural, lit-from-within glow? That was the idea I had in my head when I got the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in the shade Barcelona. Below you can read more information about his foundation, taken from the Nars website.

Ingredients list on the box
The packaging is a glass bottle with the cap having the signature Nars black, rubbery matte material. It is 1 fl oz or 30 ml. It has an open mouth, with a pump that you can get separately, but for PhP 350, no thanks! What I do to get the foundation is press the open mouth of bottle on the back of my hands (I always make sure they’re clean), then flip the bottle upside down for half a second to get a small amount. You can also use a cotton bud to scoop out some of the foundie.
I was matched to the Barcelona shade by the slightly impatient sales assistant who attended to me. Barcelona is described as a medium with golden, peachy undertones. On my NC 30-35, warm, yellow skin, it’s a little dark, and the teeniest bit orangey—but not enough to look unnatural. Still looks okay. I think Stromboli, which is the next lighter shade, would’ve been a better fit on my skin tone, but I think it was unavailable at the branch I visited.
The Sheer Glow Foundation has a light, liquidy consistency which makes it easy to spread and blend on the skin. I prefer to apply this using my fingers because I find that to be the best way to blend. Applying it that way, sometimes I get a few streaks on small creases, like the corner of my lids, but it’s nothing stark or a bit more blending can’t fix. I really like the fluid, not-too-thick consistency of this, it’s so easy to work with. It also feels light on my face and lasts several hours though it does transfer a little when I sweat. Doesn’t leave faded or uneven spots when that happens though so I’m not bothered.

Close up without flash. Sorry for the dim light here, it’s been cloudy here lately.
The coverage it provides is medium. This greatly helps even out my skin tone and make redness and hyperpigmentation a lot less obvious, however it doesn’t cover them up completely so I still need a concealer. The finish is like a satin finish, somewhat. This doesn’t dry totally matte or flat and gives my face a subtle glow. I love that it does not contain any shimmer or glitter.
My skin type right now is combination and later in the day, it seems to make my tzone and forehead oil up more, but I’ve learned that setting it with powder helps lessen the oiliness a little bit. I have dryness around the sides of my nose and lips which I always moisturize before makeup and it’s great that this foundation doesn’t cake or settle on those areas later on. I think the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation would be more suited for dry, normal, or combination skin, but if your skin is oily, or very oily, this might make you look even shinier so do a test run first if you’re interested in purchasing it.
