Nars Luminous Moisture Cream Review
While I’m very familiar with Nars’s blushes, I have to admit, I don’t know much about their skin care range. I didn’t know exactly what skin care items they had until I received a tube of the Nars Luminous Moisture Cream as a gift with purchase about a month ago. Actually I wasn’t sure at first whether it was a moisturizer or like a highlighter/skin luminizer, but then I remembered seeing the Orgasm Illuminator on the counter so I realized it must be a moisturizer. Anyways, I find the name of it attractive. Like it could give me luminous, dewy skin…

This is recommended for dry skin so generally it should suit my skin type which is dry. However the thing about my skin is, aside from being dry, it’s also acne-prone and sensitive. So I still carefully observed my skin for any reactions when I first started using this.
The Nars Luminous Moisture Cream is packaged in a square-shaped white jar, though the sample I got is in a slim white tube. On the Nars website this is priced $72. And locally, it is PhP 3650. Yeah, way expensive!
When I began using this cream, right away I noticed how rich the consistency was. If you’ve ever used any topical creams in those little tubes to treat skin allergies, well, the texture of the Luminous Moisture Cream reminds me of those. It’s rich, very creamy, and I only need a small amount for my entire face. I detect a mild, creamy floral scent to it. A pleasant, elegant scent.
I applied the Luminous Moisture Cream during nighttime and it made my skin feel very soft. That was really nice. However it did feel heavy on the skin. In a colder climate with a winter season this is a moisturizer I would’ve loved to use, both for day and night. But in a tropical country like ours I wouldn’t dare to apply it in the mornings.
I wasn’t able to use this moisturizer for more than a handful of days because soon as I started to include it in my regimen, pimples began sprouting on the pimple-prone areas on my face. It was the only new addition to my skin care regimen so I knew it was the cause. I think this cream is too heavy for my skin and our weather. I think it would be more suited for dryer, more mature skin and cooler climates.
- A small amount can cover the entire face.
- It smells lovely.
- It makes my skin feel so soft.
- Effectively moisturizes my skin without making it oil up.
- It’s locally available.
- It can feel heavy on the skin, in our climate.
- It’s too rich and heavy for my skin that I broke out.
- It’s expensive!
So glad I was able to try a sample because now I know this is not for me. I think it would better suit dry, mature skin. Since it’s expensive, if you think this would be good for your skin type and are interested in it, try asking for a sample tube first before committing to the full-sized product.
