My Favorite Products for 2012 (Cecile)
I want to share my favorite products! I hope you find something new here too. Let me know what your thoughts are.
Makeup remover – Maybelline Lip & Eye Remover
This makeup remover as reviewed by Ida has been my partner since last November. I recently bought my newest HG mascara and they are partners! At the end of the day I use this to remove the stubborn mascara. It works well! I just need to soak my eyelashes for a few minutes then voila makeup-free lashes.
I love this toner since it freshens up my skin, removes excess oil and dirt, and makes my skin look glowy. This is alcohol-free so I have no worries that my cheeks will be drier than usual. Although this doesn’t do anything to my pores unlike the Skin White Advance Facial Cleanser, this doesn’t make my skin tight or stingy.
My Celeteque Gel moisturizer works wonders in moisturizing and prepping my skin for makeup. This silicone based moisturizer doesn’t clog my pores or cause me breakouts though it doesn’t really give long term benefits since it just moisturizes the dry skin and helps fill in pores. On the other hand my GNC Vitamin C Cream is my favorite moisturizer for night time since I love that it gives me radiant skin in the morning. I noticed that my skin is extra radiant after a few weeks of usage.
I love this lotion since it isn’t greasy, absorbed by the skin really fast and makes my skin moisturized. I also love that it has Vitamin B3, known for lightening properties. I haven’t noticed if it really lightened my skin but I love the texture, consistency and, scent that it is definitely on my list every time we do grocery shopping.
Tinted Moisturizer -NARS Purely Radiant Tinted Moisturizer in St. Moritz
My Holy Grail tinted moisturizer. This works well with my combination skin and gives a nice coverage that you wouldn’t think that it is only a moisturizer.
Powder Foundation – Fashion 21 Tea Tree Oil Powder Foundation
I haven’t used this much since I noticed that my skin looks much better with liquid foundation and tinted moisturizer though if I really want a matte effect this is the powder foundation I reach for. I never bothered looking for other powder foundations especially high-end ones since this works really well for me. It photographs well, controls oil, and looks natural too.
Blot Powder – Maybelline Dream Matte Powder
Even though I haven’t used my Fashion 21 Powder Foundation, I still reach for this blotting powder whenever my face gets oily. I just blot my skin first with blotting sheets and then this one. It doesn’t cake and is very sheer. This is a nice product for freshening up my liquid foundation.
This is my eyebrow routine. I just remove MAC brow set if I’ll just go to work since I don’t like looking too made up in a hospital. Browlash Ex and In2it Brow Powder are water resistant and won’t budge unless I rub them. I love that this makes my eyebrows look really polished and nice even at the end of a very frantic day.
Curler – Fanny Serrano Eyelash Curler
I haven’t tried Shu Uemura’s eyelash curler but I already tried Shiseido’s Eyelash Curler and it didn’t fit my eyes. It actually hurts my eyes! They say Fanny Serrano’s Curler is Shu’s dupe. I have yet to find out. I have no problems with it yet so this is still my favorite local curler.
This makes my lashes really lovely. It gives curl all day and separates lashes well. A big plus is that it looks really natural, like I really have long, voluminous, and curled lashes. My gripe is this is a little hard to remove but I have my trusty Maybelline Eye & Lip Makeup Remover.
I never thought that I would use gel liner in my life. I thought they were messy and hard to use but I gave in and tried them. Great decision on my part since now I really love using it and I love that it looks natural. The white eyeliner has been with me for over a year and I still love the great staying power I never get from other white eyeliners. Both eyeliners don’t irritate my eyes.
Blush – NARS Exhibit A
The most natural blush I ever had along with cheek tints. This looks really lovely on me, on my NC30 skin as well as my mom’s NC20 skin tone. This gives a charming flush if applied lightly.
For not so loud but still attention-catching lipstick my favorite would be Pink Nouveau; for artista lips Candy Yum Yum comes to mind; for seductive & vampy lips Rebel is great, and lastly for that retro red Ruby Woo is #1. These four lipsticks complete any look I’m after. I think I would not swap this lipsticks any time soon.
These fragrances are mainstays in my stash. I would never get tired of buying them. They all smell light, girly and fresh.
