Maybelline Shadow Stylist Loose Powders Swatches, Review

Today, I’ll review the Shadow Stylist Loose Powders from Maybelline. I only own 2 of their shades; the Opulent Green and Rich Violet. I have different shades of violet and green eye shadows from different brands mainly because these are the two colors I’m most comfortable with. They give the right pop of color but not too much. Do you know what I mean?

Maybelline+Shadow+Stylist+Loose+Powders+Swatches+Review Maybelline Shadow Stylist Loose Powders Swatches, ReviewI bought these eye shadows for retouch purposes. It’s very inconvenient to bring along makeup palette sets every day, good thing I found this one that I could just handily place in my bag. I picked out my favorite shades of course. It retailed for about Php 125.00 each.

Its pretty small and compact. I expected the colors to be overly shimmery which is the case for most loose powder shadows I’ve tried. Thankfully, it turned out ok. The shimmer is not intense as I expected but if you build up the color, the shimmer will intensify too. It even gives off a certain matte finish to it with little sparks when it reflects the light.

Eyelid Primer to make it last longer. It can’t last for an entire day without the primer though. I like to wear the Opulent Green shade alone when I’m feeling girly and pair it with a coral shade lipstick and lip gloss.

As you can see in the photo above, it is highly pigmented. One swipe can cover my lids well (or even the crease area too) without dipping it again in the bottle to get more product. Some pigments stick to my eyelashes during application. The fall out is disappointing. Sometimes I forget to NOT put on my mascara before using this shadow.

I find the applicator really great for making the application easier. I use a blending brush when smudging the color in my eye area to make the color even.

Product Claim:

The Maybelline Shadow Stylist is loose powder eye shadow in a bottle with a sponge tip applicator. It is highly pigmented and to apply because of the specially designed applicator.

Directions for use:

* Shake package. Tap off excess powder.
* Use the unique sponge tip applicator to apply one layer to your eyelids for a basic look.
* Apply more pressure during application for more color and intensity.
* To further intensify the look, add lighter shades to highlight and darker shades to contour your eyes.

What I like about the Maybelline Shadow Stylist Loose Powders: PROS

1. Glides pretty smoothly
2. Blends easily
3. Fine powder
4. Pigmented
5. Does not settle into fine lines
6. Subtle shimmer, matte finish
7. Last long with primer
8. Can be blended with darker shades well
9. Very buildable
10. Packaging is convenient
11. Sponge tip is great!

What I like about the Maybelline Shadow Stylist Loose Powders: CONS

1. Does not last for more than 2 hours without primer
2. Fall out. Though it is minimal.

Overall:

I like this loose powder eye shadow from Maybelline. I want to stock up more on darker shades because the sponge applicator would be great for the crease area. The pigmentation is awesome too. I recommend this to everyone but mostly for those with oily skin since this is in loose form, it absorbs the oiliness on my lids pretty well. I haven’t seen this on Maybelline stalls but you can order some online through eBay.
