MAC Watch Me Simmer Lipstick Review, Swatch, FOTD
When the MAC Shop MAC, Cook MAC Collection was released, I looked at the items and their swatches a couple of times online, then decided there wasn’t anything I was raring to have and passed on the collection. When the Reel Sexy Collection was released earlier this month, I saw that Watch Me Simmer, one of the Shop Cook lipsticks, had been repromoted. So soon? I’d thought. I gave the lippie a second look, and soon enough, I was so curious that I had to order one.
Product information from the MAC website:
Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M·A·C famous.
Now this lipstick is definitely worth a second look. I am so glad I gave this lippie another chance, because for me, it’s the perfect shade for summer! The color of Watch Me Simmer, to my eyes, is a corally pink. On the MAC press release, it was listed as a bright pink-orange, but I personally wouldn’t say that it’s got straight up orange. I think coral would be more accurate because this has more subdued tones than orange.

This is a warm color, a warm coral pink, and my medium warm skin tone likes it a lot, though I can see how it would look just as nice on cooler, fairer skin tones. Watch Me Simmer is a bright lipstick that perks up my face in an instant. This is bright but not an incredibly bold or loud shade, in my opinion. I think it’s a feminine, fun color. I personally find it easy to wear, even with just concealer on…it’s not the type of color which I have to make an effort to coordinate the rest of my makeup with.
I’ve seen this being compared to the Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick, but I think they’re different enough to own both—Watch Me Simmer has obvious coral tones while to my eyes Nicki is all pink. Nicki is also a lighter pink.
I just stayed home all day so I didn’t bother to put on makeup, save for the lipstick, and a highlighter. So pardon but you’ll see most of the imperfections on my face.
This is in the amplified creme formula so it’s got a creamy texture that glides on my lips smoothly. It applies evenly and it’s pigmented so usually I just do one swipe of it on my lips. The finish is slightly shiny. It’s long-lasting on my lips and leaves a light coat of color in my lips through a meal. One thing I’ve come to dislike about amplified cremes though is how they seem to suck out all the moisture from my lips in a matter of hours.
I preordered this online via carefreeshopper on multiply. I just couldn’t wait for the Reel Sexy Collection to come to our shores, I had to have this lippie! At the present, I don’t think the Reel Sexy collection is available at our local MAC stores yet.
MAC Watch Me Simmer Lipstick – Pros:
- The lovely color that’s perfect for summer.
- Applies with no issues—goes on evenly and is pigmented.
- It’s long-lasting on my lips.
- It doesn’t feel sticky or waxy.
- The pleasant signature vanilla scent.
MAC Watch Me Simmer Lipstick – Cons:
- It’s drying. I anticipate that when I wear and it simply moisturize well after taking it off and the following day.
For those who want a coral pink lipstick, this is a great choice. If you passed on it when Shop MAC Cook MAC came out, give it another shot when you get access to the Reel Sexy collection. They had good reason to repromote this lippie. I like it a whole lot.
