L’Oreal Lumi Oil Smoothing Oil Essence Review
I am blessed with wavy hair but with our country’s humid weather I always end up with frizzy hair. That’s why you would always spot me wearing my hair on a bun or have my hair rebonded. These past few days I’ve been contemplating if I’ll have my re-growth rebonded again or let my hair grow. Should I embrace the curly world again?
I’m actually inspired by Liz of Project Vanity because her natural curls are really to die for. She uses Davine’s serum and Kerastese oil. I on the other hand can’t afford the said Holy Grail oil. Good thing my brother bring home this oil, he too “suffers” from the curly hair heirloom. He he he.
Well, I can’t seem to find this product on their website. The product description on the glass bottle is in Japanese. Well let me show you some descriptions I found in Google.
Description
Smoothing oil essence, oil balance level 2. Instant transformation care essence to smooth and shine in one step.
50ml
Application
Warm the gel in the palm of your hand and spread evenly through damp or dry hair. Do not rinse. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately.
If your locks need a little more shine, try spreading a little Lumi-Oil 1 on them to give them that gloss without any stickiness.
If you’ve got slightly kinky hair that needs a little smoothing, try rubbing in a little Lumi-Oil 2 (this is what I have).
If you’ve got permed or curly hair that needs just a little extra control and definition, try Lumi-Oil 3 for va-va-voom curls.
According to MedlinePlus, dry hair occurs when hair does not having enough moisture and oil to maintain its original texture. That’s why this serum is my best friend when it comes to managing my frizzy hair. The serum smoothens out the raised hair cuticle making it look more healthy and vibrant.
A lot of times my hair would become frizzy because of exposing it to the harsh rays of the sun or the city pollution I fight every day. Lately I always make that I use a serum to make it more manageable. This serum or essence from L’Oreal is a such a great help.
This serum reminds me of Citre Shine Anti-Frizz serum not only because of the fluid texture but also because of the scent. They really smell the same. I can’t remember my experience with Citre Shine’s Anti-Frizz serum so I can’t compare them since I’ve used that one in high school and never bought it again not because it didn’t work but I find the price steep.
This spreads instantly over the hair making it look extra shiny, smooth and silky. This doesn’t even look greasy, heavy or even clumpy even though I re-apply it when my hair was already exposed to the pollution or the sun. It smoothens out the hair cuticle making it look more healthy and vibrant. This also serves as a protection to my hair from further damage.
One cool thing about their packaging is the pump. It has a lock! You’ll have to twist it and pump so you could get the product and twist it again to the “lock position”. It if it twisted into the “lock position” it won’t pump at all. No worries about it spilling in my bag.

- It really tames my tresses
- Smoothens and makes my hair extra shiny and silky
- Smells citrusy
- Last longer compared to Vitress Shine Cuticle coat
- A small amount is enough on my hair
- The pump has a lock
L’Oreal Lumi Oil Smoothing Oil Essence - What I Don’t Like About It:
- Locally available but hard to find (you could avail of it from selected Salons)
- Mid-range price (Php 550 – Php 700)
Final Thoughts
I find the price again quite steep but hey this has been with me for over a year now and I’m not even half way done with it. I think it’s worth the price anyway.
