Lolane Z-Cool Hair Dye – Ash Green Blonde Review

Lolane Z-Cool Hair Dye – Ash Green Blonde Review

I really wanted to cover up my roots and touch up my hair color before going on a short vacation with the family in Hong Kong, but our day of departure (It’s today. By the time you read this, we’ll have boarded our flight already at NAIA, hopefully) was coming fast and so I opted for a cheap, temporary fix and looked at the hair dyes at a nearby PCX branch. The Lolane Z-Cool hair dyes were one of the cheapest I found. I found the name of this shade interesting—what do you think? Results and review below!

Lolane+Z+Cool+Hair+Dye+Ash+Green+Blonde+Review Lolane Z Cool Hair Dye Ash Green Blonde ReviewLolane seems to be a Thai brand, since the packaging includes both Thai and English instructions. Other than that, I don’t know much about Lolane or Z-Cool Hair Dyes. This product cost me only PhP 240.

Lolane+Z+Cool+Hair+Dye+Ash+Green+Blonde+Review2 Lolane Z Cool Hair Dye Ash Green Blonde ReviewI much prefer bubbles dyes over typical ones because I find bubble hair colors more convenient to use, but as I said, I was pressed for time and got this cheapo conventional, at-home dye instead.

Lolane+Z+Cool+Hair+Dye+Ash+Green+Blonde+Review1 Lolane Z Cool Hair Dye Ash Green Blonde ReviewIn terms of color I knew I wanted a cooler shade of brown because the current one I had, which was the 2-month remnant of Palty Honey Brown, was turning annoyingly brassy. Dyes that have the word ‘ash’ in the name usually indicate a cooler brown shade. Ash Green Blonde sounded like a pretty cool mix to me. My sister, who was with me while I was shopping, was teasing that this would make my tresses look green in flash photography. Which I laughed off because I knew it was highly unlikely. In fact if I wanted green to show I’d probably have to bleach my hair first!

Lolane+Z+Cool+Hair+Dye+Ash+Green+Blonde+Review3 Lolane Z Cool Hair Dye Ash Green Blonde ReviewThe box of Lolane Z-Cool Dye in Ash Green Blonde contained, from left to right in the photo above: a plastic cape, a brush applicator, a tube of color, a bottle of cream developer, conditioner, and a pair of plastic gloves. These are all placed in a rectangular plastic tray which will serve as a mixing tray, forgot to include it in the photo.

Instructions are pretty easy…just mix the entire contents of the tube and the bottle in the tray, mix, and and apply. I liked that the steps were written on the inside of the box, so they didn’t have to use extra paper for a leaflet. I also liked that there were different directions regarding the amount of time the dye was to be left on based on the color condition of your tresses (never before colored hair, previously dyed hair, and tresses with gray strands). For mine I was to leave it on for 20 minutes on the roots, then 10 minutes on the rest, but extended another 10 minutes for the rest of my hair.

My tresses right now are at shoulder length and unfortunately the dye in this box wasn’t enough. I had to scrimp on it in to be able to cover my hair to the tips. When the waiting time was up, it rinsed off easily and I followed up with the conditioner, which was pretty weak, so after I towel-dried my hair I put on some Snoe Beauty Hair Heroes, which I find makes an excellent after-color treatment.

The growth on my roots was covered up, but not very evenly and not completely. My tresses also looked two-toned, though I had already expected that. Some of my old hair color still showed through, but generally my tresses turned a less brassy, slightly darker brown. Good enough.

Lolane Z-Cool Hair Dye – Ash Green Blonde – Likes:

  • There’s a cape and mixing tray included.
  • Detailed instructions, and they were easy to follow.
  • It didn’t sting my scalp or make it itch afterwards.
  • No allergic reactions, thank goodness.
  • The ash brown color. It’s pretty.
  • It’s locally available.
  • It’s cheap.

Lolane Z-Cool Hair Dye – Ash Green Blonde – Dislikes:

  • The amount fell short. It wasn’t enough for my shoulder-length tresses.
  • Wasn’t able to cover my roots completely.
  • Color didn’t go on evenly.

Overall:

It’s actually not bad for the price and for a temporary fix. It was good enough for my purpose as I plan to buy bubble hair dye in Hong Kong (will post about our trip when we come back! We go back Monday night) anyway, hehe. But if you want to get a brand new, totally even hair color, you might become a bit disappointed with this.

Hope you have a great trip, Ida! :)
This looks pretty okay for a quick fix, as you said. And green hair would be pretty cool! :D
In India, it’s raining really awful too, in some parts of the country. No flooding in the city in which I live, but low-lying areas on the outskirts are inundated. There was this one hospital, the only hospital of a town, and it got totally destroyed. Really terrible. And it’s happening in many places all over the globe now.
Praying for the flood victims in the Philippines too.

Thanks Samantha, I did! I got back last night. :)
I’m glad there hasn’t been any flooding in your city. That’s terrible though that the only hospital of the town should get destroyed. I know, so many places all over experiencing such horrible disasters.
Thank you so much for that.
