Fashion 21 Aqualicious Lipstick – Little Mermaid
For some reason I always skipped over Fashion 21′s lipsticks whenever I was in the cosmetics section at department stores. My attention was often drawn more towards the Nichido, Ever Bilena, and Fanny Serrano lipstick displays. One day though, someone mentioned the Little Mermaid lipstick at a forum and I noticed that because I liked the name of the lippie (my little girl loves watching Little Mermaid). When I passed by a Fashion 21 counter I got, I checked it out, saw that it was pink, and bought it.
What the company says about the collection:
Smooth, color-rich, moisture-soft lipstick with Vitamin E.
All the tubes of the lipsticks in the Aqualicious collection come in blue boxes (with an illustration of cascading water) and blue tubes. I thought it was cute how they named this shade Little Mermaid, though looking at the other names in the collection now, on the Fashion 21 website, I don’t see how they’re all water-related….but yeah, whatever they’re just names.
Back to the Little Mermaid Lipstick, it’s a bright shade, but not outrageously bright, and I like wearing it in daytime, it looks so fresh and lovely. To my eyes this is is a medium pink that pulls towards being salmon pink. It’s warm-toned and it goes with my skin tone. I love topping this off with a sheer, milky pink gloss, which tones it down just a bit, and the overall effect I think gives my lips a healthy-looking pink color.
The finish is something of a cross between satin and matte. It’s creamy and nicely pigmented, I often need only one swipe of this on each lip and then a few dabs. I exfoliate and moisturize my lips before applying this, but it still manages to emphasize the lines on my lips and it will clump on any dry spots. That’s why I prefer wearing it with a lipgloss, it doesn’t look as dry and I think the gloss I use complements the color of Little Mermaid.
Photo taken outdoors, I think without flash.
It doesn’t stay too long on my lips. A lot of it fades through a few glasses of water or coffee, and after a meal I find that the color’s completely gone. My lips feel a little dry after wearing this, though it’s nothing too bad. I bought this for PhP 155 at SM.
Fashion 21 Aqualicious Lipstick – Little Mermaid – What I like:
- Pretty color. My mom said this shade seems to make me look younger (naks!)
- It’s pigmented.
- I thought I smelled a sweet scent the first time I used it, but the next couple of times I couldn’t detect any scent at all.
- I like the blue packaging.
- It’s affordable.
- Easy to come by.
Fashion 21 Aqualicious Lipstick – Little Mermaid – What I don’t like:
- It’s not long-lasting.
- It doesn’t apply very smoothly. It tends to settle into the lines on my lips so I often swipe then dab.
- Kinda drying.
Overall:
I like this and I’ll be honest with ‘ya, I got this lipstick in anticipation of the MAC Viva Glam Nicki lippie (which I hope to get my hands on in the coming weeks), though I know they’re not similar, both are bright though the MAC one probably much, much brighter. If you want a bright, but wearable pink lipstick that’s inexpensive and easy to find, try Fashion 21′s Little Mermaid.

I have this, too. I think it’s supposed to be a moisturizing lipstick, so it doesn’t really stay long on the lips. I love the bright color, I actually used this for my facepainting gig.
I think for the price, ok na rin if it’s not so long lasting. :) I love how bright this is too.
