Etude House Jelly Top Coat

Etude House Jelly Top Coat

Nail art is fast becoming a trend. It’s quite common to see at least 5 women walking on the street with their nails looking all glam. As one of the many individuals who adore nail arts, I have to make sure that my nails would look at its best & will last. Hence a nail top coat is a must!

I have been looking for an available top coat that could rival the infamous Seche Vite. Although there are local resellers of the said product, it being sold for almost twice the actual amount of it turns me off from purchasing (though I have to admit that I gave in to the temptation once!haha!). Believe me when I tell you that I have tried A LOT but I found nothing good enough to even compare.

When the Jelly Pop Top Coat was just released in the Etude House Philippines I grabbed a bottle to test it.

Simply put, it provides protection to your nail. A good top coat would first & foremost make sure that your nail art would stay pretty for quite a time. It would also provide the finish that you wanted (whether it’s a high-gloss or a matte finish).

Jelly pop is a nice one.

Etude+House+Jelly+Top+Coat3 Etude House Jelly Top CoatI have to say that this is just a few of the top coats that I have repurchased. Again, I said that I have tried a lot & I never repurchase something unless it’s really worth purchasing for. So that says something about this.

It dries faster than the others i have tried, not saying that it dries as fast as Seche Vite but compare to others that are locally available here in the Philippines, this is indeed fast-dry! When it completely dries, it is really glossy, almost as glossy as Seche Vite! I like!

The best thing, it’s available here & it’s not as expensive as SV! It made it on my products-to-repurchase list.

But that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have a flaw. It has & it somewhat annoys me. You know what? Take a look at this.

Etude+House+Jelly+Top+Coat4 Etude House Jelly Top CoatWhen applied, it would take on this matte-ish finish at the tips when wet. It would soon disappear when completely dry. I guess in a twisted way, it’s a good indicator when it’s still wet, huh? You’ll know when you can’t go picking something out of your bag or do any heavy hand-work.

But for someone who loves looking at her just-finished art tinge with a matte-ish look at the tips annoys the heck out of me. I want my nails to look as glossy whether wet or dry. Is it just me or do you girls also tend to look at your nails 90% of the time right after spending minutes designing it?

Anyway, I think this is just a matter of personal preference. I just don’t like it looking matter while drying but this is something that I can forgive because when it dries it is really glossy!

Etude+House+Jelly+Top+Coat5 Etude House Jelly Top CoatAs for the wear & tear… now this is tricky.

There is only one top coat that was able to withstand my everyday wear & tear with just one application. If you want to prolong your nail art, you have to apply a thin coat of it everyday. Applying it just once won’t ensure any chipping that’s for sure. Even Seche Vite peels/chips on my nails after a hard day of work. Some girls claim that SV would last on them for even a week, but not for me. That goes for Jelly pop too.

That’s just a tip for you all.
If you want your art to last, apply top coat religiously. Make sure that you seal the edges of your nail tips too so to prevent chipping.

PROS:

• Locally available
• Affordable (Php 198 each)
• Dries fast
• Really glossy!

CONS:

• Gives this weird matte look at the tips on your nails when wet

OVERALL:

I like this top coat.
I have repurchased & will be repurchasing it again. I can forgive the matte look (when wet) since again, it could be an indicator to know when you can do your work already,ne?

Hope that you find this post helpful.
