Eskinol Classic White Facial Deep Cleanser Review

Eskinol Classic White Facial Deep Cleanser Review

Eskinol is one of those local brands that have been around for ages, defying the test of time with their effective yet cheap products. I even remember my uncle using their toner back in the day and it really did wonders for his skin (everyone in my family envied him because it made him look so young.)

I stumbled upon Eskinol’s newest commercial while searching the web and it got me thinking; When was the last time I used a toner? Sure, I tried using several toners while I was in my ‘experimentation phase’ during high school due to my classmate’s insistence that I use one, claiming that it cleared up her pimples in a jiffy. But I never really felt the need to use it, especially since it stung my face too much. Eventually I just kept them in my cabinet, hidden behind toiletries and were ultimately forgotten.

After watching the commercial, I finally gave into curiosity and decided to buy myself a bottle of Eskinol Classic White Facial Deep Cleanser.

Washing your face with soap is not enough. After washing your face twice, apply Deep Cleanser with cotton and you will see that there is still dirt left.

• Whitens with continued use.
• Controls oil for hours.

INGREDIENTS

Water, Alcohol Denat., Sorbitol, Perfume, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Menthol, Citric Acid

There’s nothing special about the bottle. It’s still the same old Eskinol bottle I grew up with, only with a new design on the sticker. Since the toner does contain alcohol, it has a very strong alcohol-like scent, something that I’m wary about since alcohol can be very drying to the skin. The toner is clear and doesn’t contain any beads.

When I applied it, it gave a cooling sensation. It was very relaxing, actually. But the smell was too strong for my nose to handle. When applied on pimples is another story, however. I was greeted by a stinging pain that I encountered with the toners I previously used during high school. I gather that the presence of alcohol would be the culprit.

This is what the cotton I used looked like before I wiped it on my face. It’s all clean and soaked with the Eskinol toner.

And this is what the cotton ball looked like after I wiped it on my face. As you can see, it removed the excess oil and dirt that weren’t removed when I washed my face.

OVERALL

As much as I wanted this product to work, it just wasn’t effective for me. Plus, it broke me out and made my skin even drier so it’s an immediate bust. But of course, what may not work for me could work for you, so I suggest that you try it out if you’re interested since it’s cheap.

I think pretty much every Pinay has at one point tried Eskinol. :) I did, but had the same reactions- too drying and broke me out. Nice review, Gabriella!
