Another eye liner review! My eyes are my favorite part of my body…that’s why I always love enhancing it. One product I use whenever I play with makeup is this eyeliner.

According to their US website:

The rich gel-powder formulation of our Brightening Eye Liners instantly brighten eyes for a healthy, radiant look. These liners glide on smooth without tugging the delicate eye area. Pair with your favorite e.l.f. eyeshadows and mascara for gorgeous, defined eyes.

Directions

Hold upper or lower lid gently.
Glide on liner.

Ingredients

Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Ceresine Wax, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Synthetic Beeswax, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Rhus Succedanea Cera (Rhus Succedanea Fruit Wax), Stearic Acid, Petrolatum, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Isopropyl Myristate, Butylene/Ethylene/Propylene Copolymer.

Performance

I never use pencil eyeliner alone since I have oily skin. I only use this one as a pattern or stencil for applying my liquid eyeliner (Fashion 21 liquid eyeliner). I love that it is very easy to apply! I never experience any tugging on my eyes since it is soft and creamy. Smudging is also easy! Some eyeliners are really hard that I have trouble smudging them.

Price

Locally it’s Php129 but if you’ll buy this in US it is only $1. Way cheaper!!!

Where To Buy

Since e.l.f is a drugstore brand in US, it is available in department stores here in the Philippines. I think you wouldn’t have a hard time looking for an e.l.f stand since basically all department stores carry this brand.

What I Like About e.l.f. Essential Brightening Eye Liner

• No fuss application
• Smudging wit a Q-Tip is very easy
• Has a soft and creamy texture (no tugging experienced)
• No allergic reactions and redness experienced
• Easy to remove
• Has a cover for hygienic purposes that at the same time protects the creamy tip
• Comes with its own sharpener
• Inexpensive
• Available locally

What I Don’t Like About e.l.f. Essential Brightening Eye Liner

• Tends to settle on lines if no primer is used before application
• Smudges on the lower lash line

Note: Since I have oily lids it tends to smear easily (remember it is very creamy!). My mom, who has dry skin, never experienced smudging or smearing with this eyeliner.

Tips

1. Always sharpen an eye pencil before use; and prior to application, warm the point on the back of your hand to soften it. If the tip is too sharp, it may drag or damage the delicate skin in the eye area.
2. Good eyeliner defines and shapes the eye. To achieve a perfect lash line, apply the eyeliner as close to the base of the eyelashes as possible and work it in between them.
3. If you will be using this eyeliner alone, you could apply primer to lengthen the staying power. Applying primer could also avoid smudging and creasing. Then you could dust loose powder on top to seal the product.
4. You could also apply a small amount of eye shadow over the pencil eyeliner to help set it and keep it from smearing.
5. If you will use this as a stencil or guide before applying liquid eyeliner you need not to apply primer since it will basically stay on your lash line because the liquid eyeliner seals it in. (but it’s your choice!)

Will I Repurchase?

Maybe not since I think it will last until I save up enough money fora  great pencil eyeliner (something from Urban Decay!).

Final Thoughts

If you are on a budget (and have dry skin) and are looking for pencil eyeliner then this one is for you. But for gals who have oily lids then it’s a no no! I manage to use this one only because I never use it alone nor apply it on my lower lash line.
