Dove Whitening Unscented Antiperspirant Deodorant

Dove Whitening Unscented Antiperspirant Deodorant

I have sensitive skin all over, including on my underarms. I’ve used about a handful of antiperspirant/deodorants in the past which left my pits slightly itchy, and worse, left it looking darker (yeah, sorry if that’s too much info). When I came across Dove deodorants in the supermarket, I didn’t hesitate to pick one up because I trust the brand since I used their soap for years.

Dove+Whitening+Unscented+Antiperspirant+Deodorant Dove Whitening Unscented Antiperspirant Deodorant Product claim (from the packaging):

Now, you can get softer, smoother, and lighter underarm skin in just 2 weeks. It’s the only deodorant with 1/4 moisturizing cream proven to lighten darkened underarm skin caused by underarm hair removal. 0% alcohol. Dermatologist-approved. Effective protection. Beautiful result.

Dove+Whitening+Unscented+Antiperspirant+Deodorant Dove Whitening Unscented Antiperspirant Deodorant Dove deodorants are available in the original Dove scent as well as fruity Go Fresh varieties, but I went for Unscented (I got the roll-on. It also comes in stick form). I like to have an unscented deodorant/antiperspirant around because sometimes I’m not in the mood to smell anything else aside from the perfume I’m using for the day. My lotion and other skin care products are unscented, if not, mildly so. I use the Dove Whitening Unscented Antiperspirant Deodorant alternately with my scented antiperspirants, like the Marks and Spencer China Blue one that I have.

This product really is unscented. When I use this, at the end of another hot, hot day, my underarms don’t smell rank, or sour, or anything like that…maybe slightly sweaty but that’s it. Not bad at all in terms of deodorizing properties.

As for preventing sweat…this effectively protects me from pit stains. Oh, seeing pit stains really bothers me. I don’t even like talking about it. It makes me think of smelly underarms.  I probably got those stains in my teens, but ever since I became more conscious pit stains, I never went out without antiperspirant on again.

Anyway…the Dove Whitening Unscented Antiperspirant Deodorant works well at preventing my underarms from getting too moist. I think this is a good product for daily use. It doesn’t feel heavy or sticky when it’s applied and once it dries. I must warn you though, I usually don’t sweat heavily. So I can’t say if this is absolutely heavy sweat-proof.

As per the information on the packaging this is supposed to whiten the skin in two weeks, but I’ve used up about three bottles of this now and I haven’t seen any whitening effect at all.

Dove+Whitening+Unscented+Antiperspirant+Deodorant1 Dove Whitening Unscented Antiperspirant Deodorant Ingredients list on back of bottle

What I like:

  • It’s gentle to my skin. No itchiness, no bumps, no darkening.
  • It really doesn’t smell of anything.
  • Effectively protects my pits against sweat and odor.
  • It’s affordable. It’s around PhP 60.
  • It’s easily available at supermarkets, drugstores, department stores.

What I don’t like:

  • I didn’t see any whitening effect on me.

Overall:

I’m happy enough with this product to keep repurchasing it. I actually don’t really mind that it doesn’t whiten my underarms, I’m just glad that it doesn’t cause any darkening and that it works fine as a deodorant and antiperspirant. Also I like that it doesn’t cost a lot and I can find it at most places.
