Dove Gentle Exfoliating Beauty Bar & Pink Beauty Cream Bar
For years and years, the original Dove soap was the only soap I used. Not out of personal preference, but because it was the most affordable and easiest to find soap that was gentle enough for my sensitive skin which suffered from skin asthma. Nowadays I favor soaps made with natural ingredients, but I still like to keep Dove soaps in the bathroom and shower. I’ve been trying out the other variants.
Product information from the Dove website:
Gentle Exfoliating Beauty Bar
Combines gentle exfoliating beads that clear away old, dull skin and 1/4 moisturizing milk that nurtures new, radiant skin.
Pink Beauty Cream Bar
Deeply nourishes with 1/4 moisturizing milk for softer, smoother, more radiant skin.
The Gently Exfoliating Beauty Bar looks pretty much exactly like the original, plain variant, but using it in the shower reveals fine scrubby bits embedded in the bar. The bits are a white color so they’re not very obvious. This soap lives up to its name; it really does exfoliate gently. This doesn’t feel rough on my skin even when I rub the bar directly on my arm or wherever. There’s not a lot of the scrubby bits and they’re quite fine as well so this doesn’t feel harsh on the skin at all.
The scent of it is the same as the original soap. This scent is very familiar and somewhat comforting to me. I like how the gentle, creamy soapy scent lingers on my skin for a bit after a bath.
The Pink Beauty Cream Bar I tried simply because it’s pink. Yeah. It’s cute and girly and I like the milky pink color of the bar. But truth be told, I don’t see how it’s any different from the original variant, aside from its color and its scent being just a touch more fragrant and floral. If you like your soap gently scented, no worries, compared to the Gentle Exfoliating Beauty Bar, this is more scented, but its scent is generally light. Its lather, feel, and effect on my skin is the same.
Dove soaps are available at supermarkets and drugstores nationwide. Each bar costs around PhP 60 each.
Dove Gentle Exfoliating Beauty Bar & Pink Beauty Cream Bar – What I like about them:
- They’re gentle to my skin.
- The light, creamy scent they have.
- They’re slightly moisturizing.
- They lather easily.
- They’re affordable.
- I can pick them up at drugstores or supermarkets. Whenever I run out of my natural soaps, which I usually order online, I buy and use Dove soaps for the meantime.
Dove Gentle Exfoliating Beauty Bar & Pink Beauty Cream Bar – What I don’t like about them:
- They tend to melt into a gunky mess when their container gets splashed in the shower.
These Dove soaps are a good choice for those with dry, sensitive skin who want affordable, easily available products. I pretty much grew up with Dove and still trust the brand to this day. I’ll continue to keep it in our household.
