Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick – Flame Review

I was surprised by the Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Flame, in a good way. I was kind of expecting it to be typical and ho-hum, but I found a smile creeping to my lips when I put it on. It’s fierce!

Bright, gorgeous color that can transform your day and your lips. Enriched with a silk moisturizing complex, our formula helps sustain moisture levels and helps create soft, smooth, beautiful lips in just 7 days.

The Lip Perfection Lipstick is one of Covergirl’s newer lip products. I was wondering if there was a print ad of it featuring Taylor Swift wearing her usual kick-ass bright red lip, but I discovered that the Lip Perfection ads were actually done by Drew Barrymore, also a Covergirl endorser. Anyways, these are available at Covergirl counters at SM for PhP 395 each. There are around two dozen shades of it to choose from. It’s packaged in a gunmetal, reflective tube with the shade of the lipstick showing at the clear bottom.

Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick - Flame ReviewWhen I was at the Covergirl counter I had started swatching a few of the Lip Perfection Lipsticks, when the nice sales assistant said I might like Flame. It was an unusual suggestion because based on my makeup, I don’t really look like the type to wear bold lip colors. But I liked the vibrancy of Flame and didn’t swatch anything else after it was handed to me.

Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick Flame ReviewFlame is a warm, pinkish red with no shimmers. It has a satin finish. It has a thin feel to it but it’s highly pigmented, and applies with a low sheen which mostly goes away as this dries. As I said, the color is fierce! Flame is a bright shade which can make probably any face look more alive. I always marvel at the way I look with a bright lipstick on because it’s so different from how I usually look, which is with MLBB lippies. Flame is a great shade for nights out or if you just feel like wearing a bold, pink-red lip color.

I like how the Flame Lip Perfection Lipstick has a slightly creamy, and smooth feel to it. It’s easy to spread on the lips but it can snag on any dry skin, just like any lipstick. It has impressive wear time—this lasts several hours on me. It doesn’t fade too much after a meal. It definitely stains the lips. The stain it leaves is quite pretty, however even with makeup remover sometimes I feel like there are still traces of it left on my lips.

My lips can feel a little dry after wearing it, but nothing a good lip balm won’t cure and definitely not as drying as MAC Lipsticks. The Covergirl Flame Lip Perfection Lipstick also doesn’t have any scent or taste. And the packaging looks nice.

Pros:

  • Vibrant, bright color.
  • It’s got a smooth texture and isn’t troublesome to apply.
  • No scent or taste.
  • Doesn’t irritate my lips.
  • Wonderful wear time. Leaves a stain.
  • Nice packaging.
  • Not too drying.
  • Easily accessible product.
  • Inexpensive.

Cons:

  • It’s kind of hard to remove completely.

Overall:

This is so good for its price—highly pigmented and easy to apply. Do take a look if you love lipsticks, and if you don’t want to spend more than PhP 500 on one. Flame is a gorgeous, bold shade. If you prefer subtler colors, there are lots more to choose from.

i haven’t seen this one. well, maybe because i don’t give too much attention to CG.. hahahha

but it looks good on you.

    • Ida says:

Hehe if you do start paying attention to CG though check out the Lip Perfection Lipsticks first, I think among all the Covergirl products I’ve reviewed so far, this one’s the best.

      Thanks!

  6. Chrystal says:

    reminds me of MAC Crosswires!

    • Ida says:

Ooh it does look a bit similar in the swatch no? In actual though, Crosswires is a lot more subdued, and also a lot less red and pink. I have a review of it somewhere here.
