Travelling light is a challenge for me. Travelling light during the holidays is even a more pressing concern that I haven’t mastered. Yet. At these trying times, I thank the innovative way of bringing together all cosmetic and skincare essentials in travel sizes and handy compacts.

Availing myself of the services of Thai airway’s in-flight duty free, I am pleased that I was able to secure and satisfy my needs at that time for some of the basic cosmetic requirements.

I was really impressed that this tiny thing (about half or a quarter of an inch thick and 5-6 inches long) houses 12 different makeups!

The lid’s casing can function as a mirror with its glossy and reflective mirror-like finish. It does have a decent sized mirror when you open the top lid. It has three layers: the lid with the mirror first, mascara, lippies, eyeshadows and brushes and applicator on the second or middle layer; and face powder and blusher with sponge and brush on the last layer.

The flight attendant informed me that there are no other shades available, so I got the following:

• High Impact Mascara in Black
• Long Last lippies in 03 Creamy Nude, FC Pink Peach, 12 Blushing Nude, 97 Party Red, and G7 Pinkberry
• Colour Surge Eye Shadow Quad in 02 Spicy
• Superpowder Double Face Powder in 02 Matte Beige
• Soft-Pressed Powder Blusher in 20 Mocha Pink

I like the overall packaging and the way the whole thing was arranged. I’m not too crazy though with the third drawer-like layer for the blusher and face powder as it sometimes prove to be a bit hard to pry open. Surprisingly, the applicators are able to take modest amount of the products for application and the bristles are not falling apart. I just wish that the sponge is a bit thicker.

I also love how perfect the colors are to achieve a natural look. If you are looking for a more dramatic look, then this compact is not for you. Although given the above contents, you just need to throw in just a few more stuff as this is actually good to start with if you are aiming for a more vivid look.

Trying it on (Long Last Pinkberry lippie, Colour Surge Eye Shadow golden-brownish shade, Superpowder Double Face powder, Soft-Pressed Powder Blusher Mocha Pink, High Impact Mascara in Black).

Why Clinique all-in-one colour is a winner:

• Suitable for travel being handy and useful
• Very subtle, natural and soft colors
• Fragrance free indeed
• No breakouts
• The mini brushes and applicators surprisingly performs well

Why Clinique all-in-one colour comes in last:

• It costs $47.00 or about PHP2,000+; being a cheapskate this is an issue for me
• So far I have only seen this at Duty Free shops
• The third pull-out layer tends to get stuck

Will I buy this again?

If I found this online or at the mall, maybe I will. For now, I intend to finish this and still be on the lookout for a cheaper set. I know it’s Clinique, but here’s one hoping for alternatives which can deliver the same results. For the mean time, I say this is definitely going places with me.
