Bobbi Brown Corrector – Dark Peach Review
I can’t live without the Bobbi Brown Corrector. I proved this when my pot of Corrector in Dark Peach went missing. I went a few weeks to see if I’d be satisfied with my other concealers, and I just wasn’t. There was definitely something missing! I reviewed this item on IMBB back in October 2010 (whoa, I’d been using it that long?), so this review is sort of a revisit and update on my opinions on this product.
Product claim:
A wakeup call for tired eyes. Corrector is pink- or peach-based to neutralize under-eye darkness and is designed to be used before Creamy Concealer. New and improved formula is long-wearing and brightens dark circles with quick, just-right coverage that’s easy to blend and won’t crease. And since great makeup starts with healthy skin, Corrector is infused with skin conditioners to protect the delicate under-eye area.

What Bobbi Brown recommends in terms of color choice for correctors is to go for bisque or light pink if your skin tone is light, and peach-toned ones for darker skin tones. My overall skin tone (I’m in the MAC NC30-35 range) looks like it’d be more suited for the Peach shade of the Bobbi Brown Corrector, but when the sales assistant tried Peach on one eye and Dark Peach on the other, we both agreed that Dark Peach more effectively covered the darkness and looked a lot more natural. So if you’re planning to buy this product, I highly suggest trying them in person first to see which shade would suit you best.

The Dark Peach Corrector definitely helps neutralize the dark circles under my eyes. After application, the area looks brightened and my eyes more awake. I can’t say that it completely conceals the dark circles, but it does reduce them significantly, while looking very natural. This product is a lifesaver for me—I’ve had asthma and allergies for most of my life, and insomnia for a number of years, in the morning sometimes I tend to look like a zombie because of the rings under my eyes. I need the Bobbi Brown Corrector to look presentable!

This product is meant to be layered underneath concealer, but at times, or when I apply it lightly, it looks natural enough that I can use it alone. Other times it can look orange though, so usually I either use a liquid concealer on top or blend my foundation over it.

My brand new pot still untouched here
This has a rather creamy consistency, and while at the beginning of the day it can look just fine, with our humid weather, it tends to crease later on in the day. To avoid this, I make sure to set it with a light, translucent powder. If you have a lot of fine lines under your eyes, like I do on mine, I wouldn’t advise putting a pigmented powder over it because that makes it really settle into fine lines. That’s the reason I didn’t get the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit (Angel’s review on it as well as the Dark Bisque Corrector here). I found the concealer too creamy and the powder too heavy and pigmented for my fine-lined undereyes.

The Corrector doesn’t last as long as I wish it would on me, though I suppose the tropical climate also contributes to its fading after about 4 hours of wear. After that I find I have to reapply. No problem ’cause as long as my skin is properly moisturized, I find this smooth and easy to blend. It’s also pigmented enough so I don’t have to put on a whole lot.
Bobbi Brown Corrector – Dark Peach – Pros:
- It helps neutralize dark circles and brighten up my eye area.
- It doesn’t look unnatural or artificial.
- It blends easily into the skin.
- It doesn’t emphasize dryness or fine lines.
- It’s not chalky but pigmented enough so I don’t need to use a huge amount. One pot lasts a long time!
- It’s unscented.
- It doesn’t leave my undereyes dry. Nor does it irritate my skin.
- It has a mirror inside.
- It’s locally available.
- The simple, black packaging looks chic.
Bobbi Brown Corrector – Dark Peach – Cons:
- On me it fades after about 4 hours only.
- It tends to crease later in the day if not set with powder.
- It’s not cheap at PhP 1300.
Overall:
This is very much worth the price and I love it. If dark circles are your problem, you must try this product. Even if it doesn’t last as long as I’d like it to, I’m glad to apply it again.
