Ahglow Moisturizing Keratin Conditioner Reconstructor Review
I’ve wanted to get this baby ever since I had my hair rebonded last year since I read a lot of good reviews on my favorite forum. But I don’t know why I kept on forgetting to get one. So, last month I finally got this! :)
What the company says:
AHGLOW KERATIN CONDITIONER contains a SALON STRENTH formula consisting of two kinds of natural keratin plus superior conditioning ingredients. It provides an intensive reconstructor-conditioning treatment that effectively repairs protein damage and restores moisture after chemical services. Hair comes out beautifully restored and conditioned – healthy, strong, soft, silky and shiny.
Also ideal for the care and maintenance of newly rebounded or relaxed hair or after any kind of chemical service. Use 1-2 times a week in between other hair conditions. For treatment of porous or damaged hair, use daily until hair is restored to health.
Directions:
After rinsing off the straightening cream, hair relaxer cream, hair color or bleach, then shampoo, if required, then apply a sufficient amount of Ahglow Keratin Conditioner. Leave on for about 5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Towel-dry hair gently, then blow-dry and style.
Ingredients:
Water, Cetrimonium Chloride, Cetearyl Alcohol, Wheat Germamidopropyl Dimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Cetyl Alcohol, Fragrance, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben
Let’s take a peek at the ingredients of this promising conditioner.
Cetrimonium Chloride – Mainly used to prevent static and build-up in the tresses. It can also cleanse the skin/hair and eliminate odor by preventing the growth of microorganisms, by enabling water to mix with dirt and rinse it away. In addition, by reducing the surface tension of other ingredients and working to distribute and suspend insoluble solids in liquid, it helps form emulsions.
Cetearyl Alcohol – is a fatty alcohol and is used in beauty products as a stablizer, foam boosting surfactant, and a viscosity-increasing agent. Its not really an “alcohol” like rubbing alcohol that would dry your skin….but it is more of an emulsifying wax but not quite….it can bind water/oil mixtures but it doesn’t cause the buildup like emulsifying wax can
Wheat Germamidopropyl Dimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein – I think this the keratin. I found a patent saying those shampoo containing this is like a revitalizing conditioner.

My hair history:
Been rebonding my hair since I can’t remember! Haha! But my last session was last year I think November 2011 at Azta Urban Salon. Then, colored my tresses after a month using Revlon’s Luminista in I think Medium Blonde or something like that. Then come February 2012 colored it again using Etude House’s Natural Brown.
Daily care:
Shampoo using the following– Head & Shoulders, Pantene Nature Care – love this shampoo, my cheap alternative to L’Oreal shampoo.
Conditioner– Cream Silk in Pink & Green bottles.
HHN Sunflower Oil– one to two times a week
State of my hair TODAY:
Generally okay– looks frizzy if I let my hair down during commuting around the Metro but looks and feels soft if I put it on a bun then let it down when I got home. (Commuting is the one to blame!!!) Looks brassy in some areas (due to DIY coloring). The strands near my roots are curly because they are the regrowth :P
Now for the review…
The first thing I noticed is how it smells. It really smells good but it is kinda overwhelming especially when you are enclosed in a bathroom. I can tolerate it though. :) I can’t explain the scent of the Ahglow conditioner but they say it smells like Sampaguita. For me it actually smells like Jasmine and Ylang-ylang…maybe the three of them smells the same? HAHAHA! The good thing is the scent really lingers even after a few hours. They say it smells like an OLD LADY’s perfume but my BF has no qualms about the scent so I’m not bothered.
When I first poured it on my palm I noticed that it is not that creamy, it is like watery. Then I put it on and massaged it in (I didn’t use shampoo before this). I noticed that it didn’t make my hair instantly soft, smooth and tangle-free like my other regular conditioners. I was disappointed first because I was expecting a lot from this product. I said to myself, “Buti na lang I bought the smaller size.” Next day, I shampooed using my regular Cream Silk Pink Conditioner. On the third day I used this one for a second time, without shampoo again. I was happy that it did instantly made my tresses soft, smooth BUT not tangle-free. So, I tell myself… “Maybe I need a couple of uses to really see the results.” On the third day I used shampoo again together with my trusty Cream Silk Green Conditioner. Next day again, I used this again for the third time! I was so overwhelmed with the results = soft, smooth and tangle free-hair. ^_^ I was also impressed that while combing my wet hair, the breakage seemed reduced.

Ahglow Moisturizing Keratin Conditioner Reconstructor Review - What I Don’t Like About It

TIPS
If you have damaged hair you could use this for a couple of days until desired result is achieved.
Avoid using it more than 3x in a week if you have well-managed hair as this could make it stiffer and heavier since this is keratin or protein. It is ideal to use this 1-2x a week :)
Alternate any moisturizing conditioner/ deep moisturizing treatment with this to achieve great results. (I have yet to try this alternately with Lorys Deep Moisturizing Treatment).
FINAL THOUGHTS
If you are looking for a salon-like treatment for your damaged or dry hair you could use this! :) I highly recommend it! I love it :)
